Patrick Malone joined the Center for Public Integrity in May 2015 to cover national security. He spent 20 years reporting on justice, politics and deep investigations for newspapers in Colorado and New Mexico. His work at Public Integrity on the “Nuclear Negligence” series won the National Headliner Award for online investigative reporting, two Associated Press Media Editors Awards, an EPPY award and honorable mention in the Gerald R. Ford Journalism Prize for Distinguished Reporting on National Defense. Before joining Public Integrity, Malone exposed cover-ups of sexual misconduct by Catholic priests and Boy Scout leaders, price gouging by hospitals and corruption within the Colorado prison system. He has received dozens of regional journalism awards.
