Elaina Di Monaco has joined the staff of the Center for Public Integrity as a philanthropy associate in support of the Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization’s mission of investigating inequality.
Di Monaco is a Tampa native who most recently served as development and engagement manager at WHYY’s Billy Penn local news operation in Philadelphia. They helped grow Billy Penn’s membership program and overall support for the organization through sponsorships and individual giving.
“We believe access to information is key to equity and I’m thrilled to partner with Elaina to help Public Integrity fulfill our mission by working with funders, sponsors and donors who want to ensure our journalism is free to all,” said Public Integrity CEO Paul Cheung.
Prior to journalism, Di Monaco worked in theater, directing and producing with an emphasis on developing new work. They are active in the LGBTQ+ community and currently part of the PHL Pride Collective, a Black and brown-led activist organization that is reimagining a more inclusive Pride for Philadelphia.
“I joined the Center for Public Integrity because the mission aligns with my values,” Di Monaco said. “I am passionate about wealth redistribution and believe that ethical journalism is essential to building a healthy community.”
Founded in 1989, the Center for Public Integrity is one of the oldest nonprofit news organizations in the country.
